Our Staff and Our Students
Carmody has an outstanding staff with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Our staff is student-focused and works diligently to support all students' growth and achievement and to close gaps in learning. Our staff goes above and beyond to bring extraordinary experiences to our student body, as many staff commit extra hours to tutoring students outside of school hours, coaching middle school sports, and running student clubs and activities. Our staff also works on continuous improvement and delivering instructional excellence in the classroom by actively participating in and leading ongoing professional learning and a variety of collaborative groups, including professional learning communities, grade level multi-tiered system of support groups, instructional leadership, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and more.
Our students come from eight different feeder schools and bring a variety of unique backgrounds and experiences to Carmody. Our students are exceptional, earning awards in theatre, band and orchestra, and art for their accomplishments. A large number of our students take advantage of opportunities to participate in middle school sports through Lakewood Recreation. Over 12% of our students are active members of National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and support not only Carmody events and activities but also our articulation schools through volunteer work to earn community and service hours. Many of our eighth-grade students also serve as student mentors for our sixth-grade students as well as assist staff and students in our significant support needs program, supporting our school recycling program, and our staff coffee cart.
